Performance Pictures!

Wow, this weekend was crazy busy, but the performances went well! I was on triple duty: dancing, being assistant to the director, AND assistant stage manager. Woah.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. It was a success! And we're already planning for our next one in November...

I'm so glad I got to be so involved this round. Even though it was a challenge to juggle the many hats I had to wear at the same time (I'd run offstage after our bows to immediately go and man the stage door and call the next group on, then I'd run collect the tutus we lent out, for example) I wouldn't have it any other way. It gives you a deeper sense of accomplishment and appreciation when you're invested beyond simply thinking "how on was my performance? Why did that balance not work?" etc etc etc.

I have so much to be thankful for.

Performance Weekend!

This week has been a little bit insane - in more ways than one. But this weekend I get to be onstage :)

This has been a busy intensive month of rehearsals and performance prep, and I've been very lucky to be so involved in every aspect of it. More details to come, but here are a few last minute pictures of our costume rehearsal last night and (endless) headpiece creation...

If you have nothing to do this weekend, come see us! Tickets can be purchased here (and I hear we may almost be sold out again...)

Upcoming Performance

The excitement of the Radio City news has been cut short by the extreme busy-ness of this past week, which has been devoted to getting ready for this:

We perform next weekend, and there are LOTS of preparations in the works: programs to be typing, headpieces to be sewing, dancing to be taught, tutus to be measured, and so on and so forth. I love being busy though, especially with stuff like this! Again I'm assistant to the director, so rehearsals this month have been super chaotic for me as I juggle dancing myself with teaching, keeping attendance, collecting costume fees, etc etc etc. Hello multitasking skills!

Anyway, the performance should be good I think. We have a bunch of guest artists coming in as usual, including some great smaller companies and a big hip hop group, haha. If you're around the city with nothing to do next Saturday and Sunday, join us!

Tickets here.

Excitement!

Today I got the phone call I've been waiting about 7 months for...

I got my job back dancing in the ensemble of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular New York City cast!!!

I can't even tell you how hugely relieved I am...a much needed extended version blog post will come soon about the dramas leading up to this that make this so sweet! I'm very happy and excited...but as of now the relief is most overwhelming! Similarly to last year when they first called me to hire me, I hardly believed it was real this morning when I looked down at my phone and saw who was calling. Ahhhh....

My posts about last year's AMAZING season are all here if you want to check them out. You can bet I'll be posting even way more this year :)

To the Pointe

Maybe blogging has been slow, but I do have an article in print this month! In the August issue of Dance Teacher Magazine. It's on pointe tips for beginners...check it out here.

I know I have a lot of adult student readers, so if any of you are interested in getting back on pointe or even learning a variation, my teacher has a new pointe workshop this month at Ailey. Details are in her latest e-newsletter (that I help with) here.

OR if you're in the city and looking for a performance opportunity this month, come join our performing intensive! We start rehearsals next Monday night and rehearse Mondays & Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons for 3 weeks, ending in our next student showcase at the Ailey Citigroup Theater August 29 & 30. This time we're doing parts from La Bayadere, among other things. More details to come...this time I'm officially assistant ballet mistress :) More info and sign up link is here.

My new tag line in my bio should read, "the blogger who never blogs," haha. I DO have lots coming...I swear. Reviews, updates, and so on will hopefully come this week - for real this time!
