NY Times today at noon: "Alexei Ratmansky, the artistic director of the Bolshoi Ballet and one of the ballet world’s major talents, will join American Ballet Theater as its resident choreographer." Read article here.
With all the hype over him possibly taking Christopher Wheeldon's spot at NYCB a few months back, it's like, what?
I wonder what ABT offered him that NYCB didn't?
I also read on John Rockwell's blog that apparently Ratmansky had to be interviewed for the NYTimes in front of ABT's directors and not alone...I'll post that link when I find it...interesting.
Rockwell writes, "We don't know what the lure of Ballet Theatre was because the company insisted that the New York Times interview him only in the presence of Kevin McKenzie, its artistic director, and Rachel Moore, its executive director, and he clammed up."
